Special to The SUN

The Archuleta County Education Center will offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes again this year. These classes are open to all adults whose native language is not English. If you or someone you know would like to learn, improve or practice English, please consider these classes, which are cost-free.

This year, we are delighted to offer three levels of English classes. Level 1 (Beginning English) and Level 2 (Intermediate English) will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m., and Level 3 (Advanced English) will be held on Wednesdays, also from 5-7 p.m. The Community United Methodist Church has generously donated classroom space exclusively for ESL classes again this year.

To register and be placed in the appropriate level of instruction, students should come to the classroom (room 203, upstairs at the Methodist Church, 434 Lewis St.) on one of the evenings during the first week of the term. Registration, placement testing and orientation will take place all three evenings — Tuesday, Sept. 15; Wednesday, Sept. 16; and Thursday, Sept. 17. Classes generally follow the same calendar year as the school district. Students at all language levels and of all backgrounds and nationalities are welcome.
