The Booster Club proposed installing an electronic message center on U.S. 160, largely to advertise sporting events and increase attendance, but also for the use of the school district.
The proposed structure would be 12 feet tall, with an 8-by-8 mounted electronic screen.
The Booster Club believes the project would bring a substantial increase in game attendance and concession sales, which fuel the Booster Club’s work.
According to Al Wiley, who represented the boosters at the meeting, the project idea originated when the club decided they wanted to invest in something that would last long-term.
“We are always raising money and funds to go to uniforms and equipment, but we wanted to raise money for something we can see, and look back on and say, ‘we did that,’” Wiley said.
