The San Juan Basin Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is seeking volunteers (age 60 plus) to serve at least three years on either the AAA Governing Board or AAA Regional Advisory Board.
Desired candidates should care about seniors, senior-related issues and stay informed about legislation issues that impact the funding of senior supportive service programs. The AAA welcomes people with diverse work history and backgrounds, income levels and critical thinkers. You must be willing to travel to Durango at least every other month (six times per year) for AAA-related board meetings (carpooling is an option). Please visit their website for more information at wwwsjbaaa.org or call Christina Knoell at 264-0501 for more information.
Happenings
At the dining room on Tuesday, Feb. 18, we had our first Tuesday Trivia contest. The subject was Presidential Trivia in honor of Presidents Day.
Each table competed to see who remembered all those history lessons and have kept up with politics.
Dennis Driscol graciously played the piano for us, which everyone enjoyed. We also enjoyed meeting his son and daughter-in-law from New York City. What a lovely and interesting couple.
Friday, Feb. 21, was our executive director Michelle Lyall’s birthday, which we celebrated with a big birthday cake, which was baked by our assistant head chef, Tom Klarstrom.
