Archuleta County Public Works Director Mike Torres approached the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) during a work session held on Oct. 1, proposing the county purchase an office trailer to be put in at the county’s landfill on County Road 500.
With the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) delaying the reconstruction project of U.S. 160 through downtown Pagosa Springs until the spring of 2025, the Pagosa Springs Main Street Advisory Board has been left with excess funds in its budget for 2024.
On Sept. 24, the Pagosa Springs Planning Commission determined that a proposed mural project, planned for 511 San Juan St., which is home to the Bootlegger liquor store, qualifies as public art, rather than as a commercial advertising sign.

A Pagosa Springs Police Department investigation determined no crime was committed and there was no nefarious intent when a maintenance person at 449 San Juan St. accessed the counting room of the Archuleta County Election’s Office on Sept. 20.
The Upper San Juan Watershed Enhancement Partnership (WEP) is inviting the public to attend a presentation and Q-and-A of the 60 percent designs of the Pagosa Gateway River Project on Oct. 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Ross Aragon Community Center.
Commissioners from Archuleta and Mineral counties gathered formally on Sept. 25 at the Bruce Spruce Ranch outside of Pagosa Springs, sharing ideas and voicing mutual concerns during what was the first combined meeting between the two neighbors.
