With the region receiving increased moisture recently, all area fire restrictions were rescinded effective Friday, Sept. 5. The U.S. Forest Service was the first to announce that it would be rescinding its restrictions on the San Juan National Forest, followed by the Bureau of Land Management’s Tres Rios Field Office, Archuleta County and the Town of Pagosa Springs.
The San Juan National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations this fall, pending all required approvals. Burning operations may take place over multiple days, but are always dependent upon multiple conditions, including personnel availability, fuel conditions, weather and approval from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
