Week of Oct. 19-24
Work activity
Note: The forecast continues to call for inclement weather; all project work is weather dependent. Crews may work consistent weekends, especially when work cannot be completed during the weekdays due to inclement weather.
• 1st Street intersection and 100 block: 1st Street is reduced to one lane alternating in each direction for planned utility work and paving operations. This reduction will be seven days a week, 24 hours per day until work is completed. Crews will work around the rain forecasted to finish paving the north side of the intersection in order to reopen both travel lanes.
• 5th Street intersection: The 5th Street intersection is scheduled to be closed Monday, Oct. 19. The Town of Pagosa Springs is continuing geothermal utility work for the coming week(s). Alternative delivery access for businesses on 5th Street will be through the old courthouse parking lot. Crews will be continuing utility work at this location, as well as planned asphalt paving operations as a part of the Town of Pagosa Springs work.
• 7th Street intersection: Crews are prepping the south side of the 7th Street intersection for paving operations this week if weather permits. Please note that pedestrians and vehicles should utilize 5th Street and Lewis Street, and 8th Street as alternatives to cross U.S. 160.
• 8th-10th streets : The south side of 8th through 10th streets is planned for milling operations and asphalt pouring the week of Oct. 26.
• Harman Park and Piedra Road: Work continues at this intersection, with work hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. Crews are continuing to form and pour sidewalks, with planned island demolition and replacement in the coming week(s). We ask that drivers slow down and please allow extra time to get through the work zone.
• Pedestrian safety: Pedestrian crosswalks are open at 2nd, 3rd, Hot Springs, mid-block at 4th, Lewis, 6th and 8th. Our team continues to see pedestrians jaywalking and crossing at unsafe locations. Our work zone is active in several locations and we want to keep everyone safe. Please observe marked crossing locations.
