PCI after-school programming, community events continue to grow

Posted

It’s an exciting time at the Pagosa Community Initiative (PCI) as our youth and community programming continues to grow.

This fall, PCI anticipates offering 15 clubs across our elementary and middle school after-school programs, giving local youth opportunities to explore their interests, build new skills, connect with peers and find a place to belong.

Clubs and tutoring begin the week of Oct. 12, with additional clubs planned for the winter and spring. Offerings include art, music, sports, tutoring, Dungeons and Dragons, horticulture, outdoor exploration, and other special-interest programs based on the interests of local youth and families.

PCI also has several community events coming up this fall. Families are invited to join us for a Pumpkin Painting Party on Oct. 24, from noon to 2 p.m. This event will provide an opportunity for families to get creative, enjoy some fall fun and connect with one another.

As the holiday season approaches, PCI will also launch its annual Chrystal Snow Memorial Toy Drive, beginning with the first Stuff the Bus event of the season on Black Friday, Nov. 27. The PCI team will be in the community collecting gifts to help provide holiday presents for families throughout Archuleta County. Information about opportunities to volunteer, donate or register to receive gifts will be available soon.

From after-school clubs and family activities to community support during the holidays, PCI is proud to continue creating opportunities for learning, belonging and creativity throughout Archuleta County. We are grateful for the community support that makes these programs and events possible.
