Pagosa Peak Family Dentistry creates new career pathways

Posted

Pagosa Peak Family Dentistry has long been more than just a dental office, built on warmth, clinical excellence, and a genuine commitment to the people of Pagosa Springs.

Now, that commitment is taking a meaningful new form with the upcoming launch of the Southern Colorado Dental Assisting School.

The practice’s vision has always been to be a true pillar of the Pagosa community, known for its high standard of care, exceptional customer service, and active engagement with the people who call this region home. The dental assisting school is a natural extension of that vision.

“We believe in Pagosa Springs,” said Dr. Peter Roukema, founder of Pagosa Peak Family Dentistry. “Starting a school here means investing in our neighbors, giving local people a pathway into a rewarding career without having to leave the community they love.”

The Southern Colorado Dental Assisting School will offer a focused 13-week curriculum covering dental radiography, infection control, chairside assisting, dental materials, and patient care. Graduates will be equipped to sit for state certifications and step confidently into careers at dental practices throughout our community and across the region.

Beyond workforce development, the school will deepen the practice’s roots in the community, create local opportunities, and ensure families receive care from professionals who are trained, credentialed, and, most importantly, neighbors.

By cultivating homegrown talent, Pagosa Peak Family Dentistry is building a pipeline of skilled, compassionate dental assistants who share the same values the practice was founded on: professionalism, efficiency, and genuine care for every patient who walks through the door.

The Southern Colorado Dental Assisting School is coming soon. Prospective students are encouraged to visit the link below to learn more and stay informed as enrollment details are announced.
