Wolf Creek Ski Area has announced the winners of their annual safety poster contest.
Ellie Lindenburg of Pagosa Springs Middle School was awarded first place for her illustration of the first safety code point, “always ski in control and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.” Ellie is in sixth grade.
Second place was awarded to Elijah Miera of Bill Metz Elementary in Monte Vista. Third place was awarded to Seth Wiersma who is in sixth grade. Fourth place was awarded to Evelyn Rose who is in second grade. Wiersma and Rose are from Pagosa Springs and are in Connections Homeschool.
The “Know the Code” poster contest was for local elementary- through high school-age students. The main focus of the contest was to promote understanding of “the responsibility code” to local students who participate in the School Group Program at the ski area. Posters illustrated one or more aspects of the skier safety code. Over 50 entries were received and displayed in base camp. Prizes included lift tickets, lessons, rentals, lunch and t-shirts.
Wolf Creek guests and employees enjoyed viewing the posters and voting for the winners Feb. 1-19.
