According to data released by Archuleta County Finance Director Chad Eaton on Aug. 7, sales tax collections in Archuleta County for June were reported to be up 1.63 percent compared to figures from June 2025.
Eaton’s report notes that the 1.63 percent increase translates to a total of $28,804 more received this June compared to June 2025.
For this June, Eaton notes that the Town of Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County received a total of $1,794,235.94 from the sales tax and retail marijuana sales tax, with $896,214.94 going to the county and $894,152.28 going to the town.
January saw a decrease of 10.64 percent ($149,587.01) in sales tax collections, while numbers for February reflected a 1.17 percent increase ($16,020.75). March figures reflected a 1.01 percent decrease ($15,560.32), while numbers for April reflected a 9.07 percent decrease ($125,110.70). May figures also showed a decrease of .48 percent ($6,553.63).
According to data in Eaton’s press release, the year-to-date comparison for January through June of this year shows a 2.51 percent decrease, or $223,819.48 less received compared to figures from January through June 2025.
Eaton’s report notes that a total of $8,680,701.02 in sales tax has been collected so far this year.
Categories that were up in comparison to month-to-month comparison according to Eaton’s data include:
• Construction by 8.42 percent, or $2,761.02.
• Retail Trade by 6.3 percent, or $58,315.09.
• Finance and Insurance by 3.4 percent, or $82.62.
• Real Estate, Rental and Leasing by 7.32 percent, or $2,984.10.
• Professional, Scientific and Technical Services by 43.43 percent, or $4,538.71.
• Accommodation and Food Services by 3.21 percent, or $6,291.78.
• Categories that were down in the month-to-month comparison include:
• Manufacturing by 15.59 percent, or $12,098.21.
• Information by 5.78 percent, or $1,819.56.
• Accommodation and Food Services by 2.93 percent, or $11,287.42.
• Other Services (except Public Administration) by 20.73 percent, or $7,522.28.
• Miscellaneous by 3.22 percent, or $7.149.80.
