Special to The PREVIEW
Join musician and music therapist Paul Roberts for a free hand-drumming class at the Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at noon.
The class offers a welcoming environment that encourages fun, creativity, playfulness and connecting with others.
Pam Guiden said, “I have never played hand drums before, and I was curious about drumming in a group. I learned about the drum circle from the newspaper and from friends locally.”
She continued, “It was easier to try than I expected. Paul is very easygoing and relaxed, and the atmosphere of the group is very comfortable. It’s more about exploring and having fun with music than about playing with perfection. His drum circle is a great opportunity for creative expression.”
Guiden added, “I played the French horn extensively when I was growing up, and also played the xylophone in a nationally ranked marching band in high school, but I have not been actively engaged in music as an adult. I am grateful for the opportunity to be involved in music again.”
Designed as an opportunity for people of all ages to unleash their creativity, the drumming class is a family-friendly activity. No previous experience is necessary. Drums are provided for those who do not have one. For more information, call 731-3117. The Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse is located at 230 Port Ave.
