The special projects manager for the Town of Pagosa Springs, Scott Frost, presented town council with two requests at last week’s meeting — first, that it award the Piedra Street resurfacing project to Hart Construction, and second, that it award Benchmark Wood Floors with the contract to replace the floor of the Ross Aragon Community Center gym.
Piedra Street
On Feb 3, town council decided to have Piedra Street rebuilt from its intersection with 8th Street to the north edge of the Old Durango Road near the elementary school soccer field, including a curb, gutter and sidewalk on the north side of the street.
Davis Engineering was hired to draw the final plans and the project went out to bid on March 5. Only two qualified bids were returned, and these were opened on April 23.
Hart Construction offered to do the job for $350,977.47, while Strohecker Asphalt & Paving offered a bid of $373,945.72.
Davis Engineering charged the town an additional $38,000 for engineering, design and contract management.
