The magnificent potato
Ahhh, the potato — a wonderfully delicious and nutritious vegetable that grows quite easily here in Archuleta County. In fact, the San Luis Valley is one of the premier potato growing areas of the state and Colorado State University’s Research Station in Center provides us seed potatoes each year to sell to all of you backyard gardeners.
This year, we are selling the ever-popular Yukon gold, purple majesty, mountain rose and Colorado rose for only 50 cents per pound. Seed potatoes will be available for pickup on Friday, May 8. Call the Extension office at 264-5931 to place your order.
