Storm causes closures, cancellations and power outages

While this week’s snowstorm may have been good news for the area’s snow sports enthusiasts, it caused quite a bit of havoc for many Pagosa Country residents.

Archuleta County offices and area schools closed Tuesday due to the storm, and all high school sporting events were rescheduled.

Wolf Creek Ski Area reported 9 inches of fresh snowfall, bringing the midway depth up to 52 inches and the depth at the summit up to 45 inches. The year-to-date total now stands at 136 inches.

Around Pagosa Springs, it was reported that the Hatcher Lake area received 18 inches by Monday morning, while the town and the surrounding area received about 8 inches overnight. The lower Blanco reportedly received 10 to 12 inches.
