Update, 7:10 p.m.: Fire is contained and crews have demobilized from the incident. A Type II IA hand crew will be on scene in the morning to assist with mop up operations.
Update, 5:25 p.m.: The sheriff's office has stated that the pre-evacuation notice has been lifted for the immediate area. Crews continue to firm up containment lines.
Update, 4:45 p.m.: According to the sheriff's office, the fire measured at 2.3 acres. There is hand line and hose line around the fire.
Original: According to the Archuleta County Sheriff's Office (ACSO), there is currently a grass fire approximately 1 mile up County Road 917 (Cabazon Canyon Road).
The fire is estimated to be between 2 to 3 acres in size.
Crews from the ACSO, Pagosa Fire Protection District, Los Pinos Fire District are on scene actively and aggressively engaging in suppression operations.
Local residents are on pre-evacuation, however crews appear to have suppressed and reduced fire spread towards structures.
