Local high school students Sahvanna Vasquez (left) and Lauren Rowland attended the recent Pagosa Springs Rotary Club meeting to present for their upcoming ambassadorship abroad. As part of the Rotary Youth Exchange program, Vasquez is headed to Arad, Romania, and Rowland to Fredericia-Lillebaelt, Denmark, to spend the next school year attending high school, living with Rotary host families and absorbing the language and culture. As part of the exchange, each Rotary student is awarded a blue blazer to signify their membership. An exchange student tradition is to swap pins from their country of origin and the collection of pins is worn proudly on the blazer.
