Special to The PREVIEW
On Sept. 15, the Pagosa Farmers Market, in collaboration with Cooking Matters, will conduct a “How to Navigate the Pagosa Springs Farmers Market” tour.
The Farmers Market is held every Saturday through Sept. 15 at 191 Pagosa St. downtown.
The 9:30 a.m. tour is free and open to the public. All tour participants will receive a $10 market voucher, free market shopping bag, cooking brochure and simple tips on how to shop smarter, use nutrition information to make healthier choices, and cook delicious, affordable meals.
SNAP enrollees will learn how to use their benefits to receive Double Up Bucks (doubleupcolorado.org) at the Farmers Market. For every dollar spent (up to $20), SNAP recipients will receive a matching dollar good for fruits and vegetables. The program helps people bring home healthier foods while supporting local farmers.
The tour will include stops at a few Farmers Market food growers’ booths. The growers will each give a short, informative talk about their businesses and why they believe in growing and cooking healthy foods.
Everyone is invited to attend the free tour, which will start from the Southwest Organization for Sustainability/Farmers Market information booth.
