Newly formed Great Old Broads for Wilderness set to hear about Village at Wolf Creek opposition Aug. 3

The meeting will feature Jimbo Buickerood from San Juan Citizens Alliance, who will give a presentation regarding opposition to the proposed Village at Wolf Creek.

Great Old Broads for Wilderness, a national organization that engages and ignites the activism of elders to preserve and protect wilderness and wildlands, is forming a Pagosa Springs chapter, also called a broadband.

You do not have to be old or female to join Great Old Broads, however, the history of the organization is one of exceptional, visionary, passionate women who have stood up to the destruction of our wildlands and continue to speak out for wilderness.

On Aug. 3, to kick off the first Pagosa Great Old Broads meeting, we are adding our voice to the opposition of the Village at Wolf Creek and are hosting Jimbo Buickerood, public lands coordinator from the San Juan Citizen’s Alliance.

Buickerood’s presentation will provide an overview of the history of the Village at Wolf Creek proposal and associated land exchanges, along with a review of the concerns surrounding the project that have been expressed by residents, elected officials, recreationist and conservation organizations.
