On Tuesday, Nov. 17, the Archuleta School District (ASD) welcomed new and returning members of the ASD Board of Education to a light-hearted swearing-in ceremony at Pagosa Springs Middle School.
Superintendent Linda Reed swore in incumbent Greg Schick for District 3. Schick then swore in the new members of the school board, Lisl Keuning, of District 4, and Jason Peterson, of District 2.
Keuning, Peterson and Schick are joined by fellow board members Brooks Lindner, of District 1, and Bruce Dryburgh, of District 5.
Once the swearing-in was completed, the new board then voted on the positions of each member.
Schick was voted board president for the second year in a row.
“Mr. President,” Dryburgh said speaking to Schick, “I would like to nominate Greg Schick as the president of our board.”
The vote was unanimous, including Schick, who gave the final vote and laughed, “Aye, I guess.”
Dryburgh was voted vice president and then nominated Lindner as board secretary/treasurer.
“I want him signing checks, that’s what I want him doing,” Dryburgh quipped.
District Administrative Assistant Robyn Bennett was voted as the assistant secretary of the board.
Finance Director Mike Hodgson was voted assistant treasurer.
