Colorado State University (CSU) Extension, in partnership with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, is proud to announce the launch of the Rocky Mountain Naturalist Certificate (RMN) — a unique, noncredit educational experience designed for those passionate about nature.

This self-paced, online training offers 40-60 hours of immersive learning, exploring the Southern Rocky Mountain Region’s diverse ecosystems, wildlife and conservation practices. Participants will gain practical skills in ecology, land stewardship and environmental education, equipping them to become naturalists and stewards.

Who should enroll?

The program is designed for a wide range of learners, including:

• Environmental professionals and volunteers seeking continuing education and online training.

• Outdoor educators looking to enhance their teaching with nature-based knowledge.

• Nature enthusiasts eager to deepen their understanding of local ecosystems.

• Community members interested in conservation and stewardship opportunities.

Flexible, affordable and
comprehensive training

RMN focuses on the Southern Rockies, providing insights into native species, land-use history and modern conservation challenges.

Learners will engage in self-led field activities, applying knowledge in real-world settings to gain firsthand experience.

Enrollment is now open for individual courses or the Rocky Mountain Naturalist Mastery Bundle at a discounted rate of $425 (through Aug. 31). Discover, protect and engage — become a steward of nature.

Whether you’re advancing your career, expanding your teaching capabilities or simply connecting more deeply with nature, the RMN is your gateway to a greater understanding of the world around you.
