Mary Jean was born in Susquehanna, Penn., on March 27, 1940, to Kenneth and Jessie Potter. She attended schools in New Milford, Penn., until her senior year before moving with family to Columbus, Ohio, in 1957. She graduated from Grove City High School the following year and entered the Ohio State University, where she met Richard “Dick” Riethmiller. Both graduated in 1962, and they married the following year. She is survived by her husband of 63 years and her four children, Erika (Chuck), Frederick (Lori), Matthew (Lisa) and Gretchen (Tyler). She has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
They resided in the Columbus/Upper Arlington, Ohio, areas until his retirement in 2001, when they moved to Pagosa Springs, Colo. A talented artist and avid horseman, she was active in many school, family and community organizations. Above all, she was a stay-at-home mom, which the entire family credits for our happiness and success.
