Laura Lewis Marchino, assistant director of Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado Inc., recently earned the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), a national recognition that denotes a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to personal and professional growth.
The CEcD exam was administered by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) on Oct. 18 and 19 in Fort Worth, Texas.
With nine years of economic development experience, Marchino has received the 2003 Community Builder Award from the La Plata County Community Summit Coordinating Committee, 2004 Extraordinary Woman of the Year presented by the Women’s Resource Center and the 2008 Economic Developer of Leader of the Year presented by the Region 9 Economic Development District Board of Directors. She currently serves on the board of directors of the National Association of Developers Organizations, and served as the chairperson of the board for Colorado Association of Regional Organizations.
