Louise Elizabeth Wadley

obit-wadleyFamily-136-(2)Louise Elizabeth Wadley, 89, passed away on Feb. 7. She was born on Nov. 22, 1926, to Elmer and Winnie Shupe in Alamosa, Colo., and was raised in Taos, N.M.

Louise met her husband, Richard Wadley, when he moved to Taos in 1945 after his service in World War II. They were married, after a two-month courtship, for 61 years, until Richard’s passing in 2007. Their daughter, Janet, was born in Taos. They moved to Denver in 1948 where Richard Jr. (Rick), Patti and Steven were born. In 1960, the family moved to Albuquerque.

Louise (Gaga) was a doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took good care of her parents as they lived next door in the last years of their lives.

In 1974, Louise became the first woman Allstate agent in New Mexico. She worked hard on behalf of her customers. She was very proud of her high customer-retention rate.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wadley; sisters Helen, Evelyn and Ethel Jean; her daughter, Janet Faye Miller; and her granddaughter, Stacey Wadley. She is survived by her brother, Howard Shupe, and his wife, Thelma, of Sedona, Ariz.; son Richard Wadley Jr. and wife Leslie, of Albuquerque; daughter Patti Norris and her husband, Edward, of Albuquerque; son Steven Wadley and wife Jennifer, of Pagosa Springs; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., Suite 310, White Plains, NY 10605. Memorial services are pending.
