January is National Mentoring Month and last week you read stories from the volunteers or “Bigs” involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters. This week, we have thank you letters that the children or “Littles” in our program have written. This is what they have to say:

“I like being with Nick and do things I never get to do. Going fishing, playing music and reading. Helping me with problems and helping me with exercising and health. You are the best Big Brother in the world.” — Aidan.

“Amie, Thank you for always being there for me when I need you. Thanks for all the advice you give me. I am looking forward to snowboarding … if it ever snows.” — Mahri.

“Dan, Thank you for being my big brother. I love doing things with you. I waited a long time for you and you are the best!!” — Nick.

“Thank you both for being the best Big Couple that a little could ask for! Ms. Mellody, thank you for helping to teach me in home school, and for getting swim lessons to teach me to become a good swimmer! Mr. Jim, thank you for helping me learn new skills like building crafts and rockets. Teaching me how to drive the razor and boat!! Thank you both for being there for me. And all the wonderful things you have done for me. I look forward to many, many more years to come.” — Jarrett.

This shows that mentoring truly works! These children are so grateful for having someone special in their lives — someone that is there just for them.

BBBS would like to thank all of the wonderful mentors who do so much to positively impact the lives of the children in this community.
