Kennie May Persson

Kennie May Persson (née Parrott) was born May 2,1948, in Denver, Colo., and passed away in Pagosa Springs, Colo., on Aug. 22, 2026, after a brief illness with Alzheimer’s. She passed peacefully surrounded by family holding her hands as she took her last breath. Kennie was one of five children and an identical twin. She grew up in Southern California, but also spent some of her childhood in Denver, Colo.

In 1973 she was introduced to her best friend and future husband of 51 years, Roger Persson. With that marriage came four children, whom she adored and raised as a stay at home mom: Troy (Amy), Trevor (Rocio), Tamara (David) and Tyr (Tara). Her children were her greatest accomplishments, and her pride and joy. There wasn’t a day that her children didn’t feel the love that she had to offer. She raised her kids right next door to her identical twin Pattie and treated her children — Melody, Andy and Scotty — as if her own receiving the same love that her own children did.

Kennie and Roger moved to Pagosa Springs in 1999, purchasing Las Montanas and running the restaurant for two years before selling it and returning to work as a banker and in the oil fields. Grandchildren soon arrived, and Kennie relished in the role as a “Meemaw.” Camren, Isabelle, Cooper, Trevelyan, Talon, Knox, Sebastian, Octavia, Valentina and Maximilliano will miss their Meemaw beyond measure.

She is preceded in death by her beloved grandmother Bawmaw, who was more like a mother to her than a grandmother; her parents, NelRose and Kenneth, her identical twin sister Pattie Ray; and her identical twin brothers Stony and Brooke.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Mercy. There are no services planned. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family is requesting any donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s association.
