Josephine was a fun, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family more than life itself.

She was born to parents Earl and Lois Harris.

Josephine was very talented; she could cook and no one left her table hungry. Her baking had the neighbors always running over! Her home was the constant gathering place for her children and their many friends, no one was left unwelcomed. If the kids were gone, Jo’s famous whistle would have them all scrambling back to her place in a hurry.

Her heart was made of fine gold and silver and she always reserved it for her family and friends. Any friend of hers was a friend for life. No questions asked.

She enjoyed many things, a fond one was sewing on her treadle machine, making clothes, curtains and quilts, until she got an electric sewing machine, when she truly expanded her skills.

Jo was a foster mother to over 59 babies and toddlers within a five-year span. Caseworkers knew when they came to pick a baby up, they needed to bring her another one to lessen the tears.

Jo could be a crack up and very funny fast thinker. Even up until she was called home, she had family laughing, just to see them smile.

Jo was blessed to have a wonderful husband, Carl, who passed way too soon, before they could live the vision of retirement they envisioned together out at Navajo Lake. Their legacy lives on in the many loved ones they leave behind.

Jo’s four children were as different as they could be; she could sense what each one needed or wanted. She was very proud of the adults they had become. But beyond that was her pride for all 15 grandchildren, 20 1/2 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren that she was blessed to have and to love.

Jo said, “I know I am not going to be here much longer, but it’s not that I am dying, I am rejoicing that I lived! But feeling lucky I will get to be reunited with family and friends already passed on and know I will get to see all of you again!”

Cheers to a lady we were blessed to love as she loved us.
