Jim Springer


obit---springer-2014-08-15-10.27.29Jim Springer passed away on July 18 at the age of 69. Jim was born in Terrell, Texas, on Feb. 5, 1946, to Marvin and Onita Springer.

At the age of 4, his family moved to Chula Vista, Calif., where Jim lived until 1972, when he then moved to South Lake Tahoe, Calif., where he built custom homes and met his future wife, Linda Babcock. In 1982, Jim and Linda returned to Texas, where Jim continued to work in construction and then later worked for the Dallas Independent School District for 20 years as a locksmith. He retired to South Padre Island, Texas, to live in Jim and Linda’s dream house that Jim designed. After six years, tired of the heat of Texas, Jim and Linda decided to return to the mountains and found their way to Pagosa Springs and fell in love with the area.

Jim was an avid fitness enthusiast, working out six days a week, two hours a day for over 50 years. He enjoyed many outside activities which included golf, skiing, hiking with his dog, Jake, SUP boarding and fishing,

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Annette Cook and Linda Kay Loftis. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda, and his dog, Jake, who both miss him dearly. He also leaves many nieces and nephews both in Texas and California, as well as many friends and neighbors both in South Padre and Pagosa. He will be greatly missed.
