According to data released by Archuleta County Finance Director Chad Eaton on March 9, sales tax collections in Archuleta County for January were reported to be down 10.64 percent compared to figures from January 2025.
Eaton’s report notes that the 10.64 percent decrease translates to a total of $149,587.01 less received this January compared to January 2025.
For January, Eaton notes, the Town of Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County received a total of $1,256,228.39 from the sales tax, with $630,215.94 going to the county and $626,015.45 going to the town.
Eaton notes that retail marijuana sales tax reports from the state had not been updated as of March 9, nor had aviation fuel reports.
Categories that were up in comparison to month-to-month comparison according to Eaton’s data include:
• Information at 10.41 percent, or $2,617.57.
• Professional, Scientific and Technical Services at 60.05 percent, or $5,009.86.
• Accommodation and Food Services at .97 percent, or $2,628.49.
• Other Services (except Public Administration) at 6.85 percent, or $1,397.84.
Categories that were down in the month-to-month comparison include:
• Construction at 31.92 percent, or $7,670.56.
• Manufacturing at 19.85 percent, or $11,838.42.
• Retail Trade at 9.72 percent, or $71,403.72.
• Finance and Insurance at 4.52 percent, or $77.24.
• Real Estate, Rental and Leasing at 29.81 percent, or $8,150.96.
• Miscellaneous at 26.65 percent, or $62,099.87.
