Homegrown champs

High school basketball season is over, and what a season it was.

The Pagosa Springs community has much to be proud of.

The Pagosa Springs Pirates boys’ and girls’ teams both made it to the Sweet 16. The year ended there for the boys’ team. They worked hard to make it to the level that they accomplished, and they are commended for their success.

Pagosa Springs Lady Pirates sailed ahead to state competition last Wednesday and returned on Sunday with the bounty: Pagosa’s first-ever Class 3A Girls Basketball State Championship title.

At Monday’s pep rally, numerous comments were repeated:

“Homegrown team.”

“It was a dream come true.”

“They never gave up.”

“Dedication.”

“Determination.”

“Class act.”
