School is drawing to a close, but students are still busy with classwork and labs. High school students in J.D. Kurz’s physical science class are working on an experiment with magnesium and hydrochloric acid to create hydrogen bubbles. Students then use pH meters to determine the level of waste that needs to be neutralized before the solution can be dumped into the drain. The Archuleta County Education Center donated $10,000 to the school district to purchase equipment for the high school science laboratory. Students pictured here (left to right) are: Isaiah Walton, Jeremiah Talamante, Leonard Noriega and Abbey Johnson.
