Grand Canyon speed record attempt

The team that would later attempt to break a Grand Canyon speed record gets gnarly during their practice run on Dec. 3, 2016. Their custom-built raft allowed for eight athletes, with six rowing, one manning the tiller and the last resting. The rowers rotated positions roughly every 15 minutes, allowing an athlete to rest about once every two hours.

When Seth Mason pitched the idea of beating a speed record rafting the Grand Canyon to the footwear company Chaco, he didn’t really expect the company to bite.
