Special to The PREVIEW
This Saturday, July 30, Growing Partners of Southwest Colorado, in collaboration with Cooking Matters, will conduct a brief “how to navigate the Pagosa Springs Farmers Market” tour.
The Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 191 Pagosa St.
The 9 a.m. tour is free and open to the public. All tour participants will receive a free market shopping bag, cooking brochure and simple tips on how to shop smarter, use nutrition information to make healthier choices, and cook delicious, affordable meals. The tour will include stops at a few Farmers Market food growers’ booths.
The growers will each give a short informative talk about their business and why they believe in growing and cooking healthy foods.
SNAP benefit recipients will learn more about DoubleUp Bucks, which is available on fruits and vegetables at the Farmer’s Market. For every dollar spent (up to $20), SNAP recipients will receive a matching dollar good for fruits and vegetables.
Everyone is invited to attend the free tour, which will start from the Southwest Organization for Sustainability (SOS)/Farmers Market information booth.
