Frances Belarde passed away Jan. 22, in Denver. Frances was born June 17, 1939, to Helen McGrath Singer and William Singer. She was raised in Pueblo with two older sisters, Laura and Helen, and a younger brother, Richard. After graduating from Pueblo Catholic High, she became a hairdresser and then an instructor in hairdressing.
In 1963, she flew to Germany to marry Lionel Belarde, who was stationed there with the Army Security Agency.
After Lionel’s tour of duty, they moved to Pagosa Springs with their daughter, Lisa, born July 1964, where Lionel was raised. Frances had a beauty shop. Lionel taught at the local elementary. They moved with their daughter Lisa to Brighton, where Lionel was a school counselor and Frances taught at different hairdressing schools in the Denver area.
They moved back to Pagosa Springs following retirement in 2010 until 2011, when they moved back to the Denver area due to Frances’ failing health.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Laura. She is outlived by own daughter, Lisa; son-in-law Scott Kopplinger; two grandchildren, Jamie Lee and Cameron; her sister, Helen; and brother Richard, as well as nieces and nephews.
Frances was a friendly and likable person. She enjoyed painting landscapes and flowers and she collected novelty shoes. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
