The following update was issued by the Durango Interagency Fire Dispatch at 4:30 p.m. regarding the Little Devil Fire:

Start: Aug. 18
Cause: Lightning
Size: 48 acres — Acreage has been corrected due to more accurate mapping.
Percent contained: 70 percent
Number of personnel: 66 including three handcrews miscellaneous overhead.
Aircraft: one Type-3 helicopter.
Update on today’s activities: Today’s mop up operations were in full swing bringing the containment to 70 percent. The Little Devil Fire will transition this evening to a Type-4 Incident Commander with full containment expected Aug. 23 and the fire is expected to be fully controlled on Aug. 30.
Firefighters and equipment are being demobilized and reassigned to fires. The helicopter will remain near the Little Devil Fire to be utilized as needed. There are still some hot spots in the interior of the Little Devil Fire, but they pose no threat of spread outside containment lines.
This will be the final update on the Little Devil Fire unless significant activity occurs.
Forest Service Road 626, Devil Mountain Road, has been reopened for public travel. Forest Service Road 627, that accesses the Devil Creek State Wildlife Area, will remain closed.
Community concerns: Smoke may be visible from U.S. 160 and Colo. 151.
