If you enjoy a good time and the outdoors, you won’t want to miss the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) San Juan Chapter’s 22nd annual banquet and fundraiser.

This year’s banquet is on Saturday, June 7, at the Ross Aragon Community Center. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

During our “social hour,” there will be entertainment including drawings, raffles, drinks, hors d’oeuvres and silent auction. Dinner and live auction will follow.

If you’ve never been to a banquet before, don’t miss out. RMEF big game banquets are legendary for their high-energy camaraderie. You will see old friends and make new ones, enjoy fine food and drinks and help the Elk Foundation get well on its way to conserving important habitat for elk and other wildlife.

Local banquets provide the majority of Elk Foundation conservation dollars, which RMEF is able to leverage by a 9-to-1 ratio through matching partner funds. These funds make amazing things possible. Since 1984, the RMEF and its partners have conserved or enhanced more than 6.4 million acres of North America’s finest elk country. Since 2004, RMEF, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the San Juan National Forest have partnered to enhance more than 3,500 acres of winter and transition range for big game and other wildlife on public lands in Archuleta County.

Since RMEF believes everyone should get the opportunity to hunt, fish or learn outdoor skills, Colorado chapters also fund and help orchestrate hunting heritage activities include S.A.F.E. (Shooting Access for Everyone) Challenge events, 4-H Shooting Sports, Becoming an Outdoors Woman, Outdoor Heritage Day and National Archery in the Schools programs.
