Elaine Roberta Hyde, 88, went home to be with our Lord on Nov. 24.
Elaine was born in Delta, Utah, on Oct. 21, 1927, to George and Grace Meinhardt. Elaine graduated from Huntington Beach High School and then attended the Hollywood Presbyterian School of Nursing and received an RN degree in 1948. She worked as an OB/GYN nurse at California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles. Elaine married Bert Hyde on Aug. 21, 1948, and together raised four children.
In 1968, the family moved to Pagosa Springs. For several years, Elaine worked as a school nurse for the Jicarilla Apache Tribe in Dulce, N.M. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, being involved in church functions and all aspects of the Christian Women’s Retreat. She was dedicated to her family and was a great role model in being generous to family and those in need. Most importantly, Elaine was a Godly woman exemplifying the love of the Lord Jesus Christ in her life.
She is survived by her four children, Paula Williams, Tom Hyde, Dan Hyde and Julie Haslinger, along with their spouses, Brenda Hyde, Denise Hyde and Marc Haslinger. Her grandchildren are Jennie (Jason) Horner, Michelle (Nate) Johnson, Garrett Williams, David Williams, Chad (Nicole) Hyde, Amy (Don) Townsend, Jasmine Hyde, Chloe Hyde, Lauren Haslinger, Emily Haslinger and Olivia Haslinger, and great-grandchildren Isaiah, Lilly, Rosie, Anthony and Logan.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Hyde, and son-in-law, John Williams.
