Cloman Community Park, located off Cloman Boulevard near the airport, is closed until May 3, to allow for forest thinning efforts.

Thinning activities began on the property on April 12, and are related to mitigation.

Forest thinning on the property, being completed by Renewable Forest Energy, will thin portions of the forest on the property to three different stages.

Archuleta County, owner of the 120-acre park, is working with the Mountain Studies Institute in Silverton to create signs that explain each stage of mitigation, with those signs slated to be installed in conjunction with trails on the property, said Archuleta County Attorney Todd Starr.

The trails are expected to be completed this summer following the fencing of the property, Starr said.
