The Colorado Department of Transportation’s Division of Transit and Rail is in the process of developing its first ever comprehensive Statewide Transit Plan, providing a framework for creating an integrated transit system that meets the mobility needs of Coloradans.

CDOT is holding public open houses around the state in October to present information and gather input on the Statewide Transit Plan.

In addition to the Statewide Transit Plan is the development of Regional Coordinated Transit Plans for the state’s rural areas. These Regional Plans will be integrated into the CDOT Statewide Transit Plan and the Regional Transportation Plans (also underway).

Fourteen meetings will be held through the rural areas of the state by the end of the month.

A meeting for the Southwest Region, which includes Archuleta County, will be held 1-3 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave., Durango.
