An Arboles house fire that took place late Saturday night is being investigated as a case of possible arson.
According to Los Pinos Fire Protection District Chief Bill Shank, the house fire was reported shortly before midnight, at 11:56 p.m. on Oct. 6.
The residence, located on County Road 973, was unoccupied at the time of the fire, Shank reported.
LPFPD requested aid from Durango Fire Proctection District, Archuleta County’s Office of Emergency Management and Upper Pine Fire Protection District during the incident.
While the cause of the fire is under investigation, the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office’s incident log lists the incident as first-degree arson.
Arson is a strong possibility, according to Det. Lando Garcia with the ACSO, though evidence is still being analyzed and tested for fuels.
