Archuleta County Fair set for this weekend

Posted

The tents are up, projects are on exhibit, the animals are in place — it must be time for the Archuleta County Fair.

Celebrate 74 years of “A Timeless Tradition” at the county fair July 31 through Aug. 3.

The fairgrounds are located at 344 U.S. 84. With the support of several sponsors, the fair is free to all for general admission (rodeos and dances incur a separate fee) and is the highlight of the year for youth, adults and families throughout the county.

It’s a time for our residents and visitors alike to celebrate our western heritage and enjoy great food, entertainment and exhibits. To learn more about the fair, visit https://www.archuletacountyfair.com.

There is truly something for everyone in this year’s fair. For our kids and kids at heart, there will be a variety of shows, games and entertainment throughout the weekend. Attendees will want to see Wildman Phil and his exotic animals, a big draw every year. Women can show off their strength at the nail driving contest. You will not want to miss the BMX show and the medieval armored combat show. To learn about all the entertainment, check out the fair schedule at https://www.archuletacountyfair.com.

Make sure to visit the exhibit hall and Hughes Pavilion to view all the great work and dedication shown by our county’s 4-H youth. There will be livestock shows throughout the weekend.

Saturday afternoon is the delicious Chuckwagon Dinner, a fundraiser for Archuleta County 4-H. Buy your tickets early as they sell out every year. The 4-H Livestock Auction follows the dinner on Saturday evening. Bid on your favorite animals and support our 4-H youth.

Start your Sunday with a pancake breakfast, made and served by the Pagosa Springs High School girls’ basketball team before watching the Kid’s Rodeo.

So, don’t miss this year’s Archuleta County Fair — there is truly something for everyone. For information about the fair and to see a fair schedule, visit https://www.archuletacountyfair.com.
