Sales tax collections in Archuleta County continue to increase in month-to-month comparisons with 2024.
According to data released by Archuleta County Finance Director Chad Eaton on June 5, overall sales tax collections for April of this year increased 9.32 percent compared to figures from 2024. That equates to $117,621.93 more received in April 2025 than in April 2024.
Sales tax collections have been up every month through April of this year compared to 2024 figures.
Sales tax collections in January were up 3.96 percent, or $67,565.22 more than January 2024; February collections were up 11.64 percent, or $143,191.44 more than February 2024; and March collections were up 9.12 percent, or $129,489.44 more than March 2024.
Eaton notes that the Town of Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County jointly received a total of $1,379,034.06 from the April sales tax and retail marijuana sales tax revenues, with $688,303.83 going to the county and $690,730.23 going to the town.
Categories that were up in comparison to April 2024 according to Eaton’s data include:
• Construction at .14 percent, or $49.18.
• Manufacturing at 106.01 percent, or $65,331.11.
• Retail trade at 5.31 percent, or $36,188.26
• Information at 14.16 percent, or $3,637.54.
• Accommodation and Food Services at 5.32 percent, or $9,902.64.
• Other Services (except Public Administration) at 14.34 percent, or $3,301.19.
• Miscellaneous at 4.73 percent, or $9,793.39.
Eaton’s data also identifies categories that were down in comparison to April 2024, which include:
• Finance and Insurance at 44.46 percent, or $808.14.
• Real Estate, Rental and Leasing at 14.96 percent, or $3,626.58.
• Professional, Scientific and Technical Services at 39.56 percent, or $6,146.66.
