Wolf Creek Ski Area ended the 2025-2026 winter season last weekend with a total season snowfall of 192 inches after a late-season winter storm dropped 19 inches of fresh snow at the ski area April 1-3.
“Despite the weird weather we had a fairly good season,” Vice President of Marketing Rosanne Pitcher said.
She noted that it was similar to the 2024-2025 season.
“The lower-than-normal snowfall always makes it a little harder,” she said, explaining the ski area still saw numerous visitors from Texas and Oklahoma who were eager to get into the mountains.
Pitcher also noted that the ski area saw more international visitors from Mexico than ever before.
“It was a good year,” she said.
She highlighted the fact the ski area was open for 135 days this season, compared to some seasons when it is able to operate more than 160 days.
“We had some lucky snowfalls,” she added, specifically noting the 59-inch storm that occurred the week after Presidents Day.
“That was really great,” she said, noting that the storm brought skiers and boarders down from the Front Range, “‘cause no one saw that kind of snow in Colorado this winter.”
The ski area was also able to end the season on a positive note with the last storm that “kind of saved our bacon,” Pitcher said.
The ski area was able to reopen 100 percent of its terrain following that storm, with heavy, wet snow filling in terrain, followed by cooler temperatures.
According to Pitcher, the ski area was able to open 100 percent of its terrain for 108 days this season, from Dec. 6, 2025, to March 20, and then again from April 2-5.
As the ski area gears up for a busy summer of logging operations and regular maintenance, a new 100,000 gallon water tank is planned to be installed to help increase snow-making operations throughout the mountain, Pitcher explained.
She also noted that logging operations in the Waterfall and Alberta Peak areas of the mountain will take place to hopefully allow skiers and boarders to still “make something out of it” even on low-snow years.
Plans to add a new groomed run off of the Alberta chairlift are in the works, as Pitcher explained the ski area is considering turning the Abracadabra trail into a groomed run.
Pitcher also mentioned Wolf Creek Ski Area and other ski areas across the state had some hard times this season, “but I think we fared really well” with being able to open lodges and terrain throughout the whole season.
