Weminuche Audubon Society to hear about ‘Birds and Energy’ Jan. 21

Posted

The Weminuche Audubon Society invites everyone to join us for our monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Community United Methodist Church, 434 Lewis St.

The January program on “Birds and Energy” will be presented by Martin Ogle, who has been a naturalist and energy educator for more than 40 years.

Birds are full of energy — literally and figuratively. With the highest body temperatures of all animals, remarkable adaptations and awe-inspiring migrations, they have much to teach us about energy.

Ogle will provide a fascinating exploration of avian life through the lens of energy, and vice versa.

Discover how the National Audubon Society is connecting energy, birds, climate change and other concerns of our day. Learn also about the myriad of energy-related adaptations exhibited by birds and new ways we are lessening the impact of human energy systems on birds.

To learn more about Ogle’s work, visit his website describing the nonprofit he recently created called Geo sapiens at www.geosapiens.org.

Meeting attendees are asked to enter through the entrance off of the parking lot on the east side of the church building. The doors will open at 6 p.m. for a time of socializing, with the formal program beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Donations of nonperishable food items to support the Community United Methodist Church food bank are encouraged and greatly appreciated.

Ogle will be making his presentation via Zoom and the program will also be available online. For a link to the online version of this presentation, email Herb Grover at hgroverco@gmail.com.
