Weminuche Audubon Society March meeting to feature member photo share

Posted

At our March meeting, members of the Weminuche Audubon chapter will share nature photos and the stories behind them.

Yes, we look for birds and sometimes even list them, but at heart we are naturalists fascinated by the biodiversity of all life and the beauty that surrounds us.

In addition to sharing images that celebrate the environment right outside our doors, we expect to hear from members who have traveled near and far and share in their adventures.

As spring approaches, we are getting excited about our upcoming community science surveys that get us outside and paying attention. We invite you to join us in documenting bird species in the national forest, American dippers nesting in our rivers, and the aquatic macroinvertebrates that rely on healthy rivers and streams.

You don’t need to be an expert to participate in these projects that advance scientific knowledge and increase your own.

Our April meeting will focus on these volunteer opportunities and you can direct questions to us at weminuche.audubon@gmail.com.

The public is invited to join us at the Community United Methodist Church on Lewis Street on Wednesday, March 18.

We will meet at 6 p.m. to socialize with appetizers and snacks before the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

Please enter through the side door off the parking lot or let us know to open the main door for handicap entrance. In appreciation for our meeting space, we welcome donations of nonperishable food for the church food bank.

For those unable to attend in person, a link to join the meeting on Zoom will be posted on our website, www.weminucheaudubon.org prior to the meeting.
