Despite the rainy weather on Saturday afternoon, warmth and creativity filled the Timber Ridge Clubhouse as more than a dozen community members came together to support a cause close to home.
Under the guidance of world-renown and local textile artist Linda Lutomski, participants spent the afternoon weaving colorful potholders — each one a small but meaningful gift for neighbors in need.
Lutomski has inspired people from across the country to join the effort — volunteers nationwide are making potholders and mailing them to our small town. It’s a heartfelt way to help make Thanksgiving a little more special for our community.
All supplies and materials for the project have been generously donated by Lutomski and her friends, reflecting the spirit of giving that defines the effort. The finished potholders will be distributed during the holiday season at Our Community Eats’ food pantry, offering a handmade, practical gift to brighten local homes during the colder months.
In addition to leading the weekend weaving session, Lutomski is also sharing her skills with students across the area, teaching them not only the craft of weaving, but also the value of generosity and community care.
It’s yet another inspiring example of neighbors from across the nation joining hands with our own neighbors here to help — reminding us what makes Pagosa Springs and its community truly special.
