A vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision late Thursday morning left one in serious condition, according to a press release from the Pagosa Springs Police Department (PSPD).
According to a press release from the PSPD, on Thursday, Aug. 1, at approximately 10:53 a.m., the Archuleta Combined Dispatch Center received a call of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian motor vehicle collision in the 200 block of Pagosa Street.
It notes that PSPD, Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) EMS and Pagosa Spring Fire Protection District personnel responded to the scene.
The accident occurred when a 1997 white Dodge Dakota pickup traveling eastbound struck a 68-year-old local man attempting to cross from the north to the south side of Pagosa Street outside of a designated crosswalk, the press release states.
It notes the male was transported by ambulance to PSMC and then by air ambulance to a higher level of care. The male is described to be in serious condition.
The 84-year-old driver from Glendale, Ariz., remained on scene and was fully cooperative with the investigation.
The driver and pedestrian are not being identified at this time due to an ongoing investigation.
