Unitarian Universalists to begin new series of services

The Pagosa Unitarian Universalist (UU) Fellowship introduces the start of a new series of services: “What the World Needs Now - Universalism in a Polarized Age.”

In collaboration with the Foothills Unitarian Church of Fort Collins, we welcome all to hear from the professional ministry team at Foothills Unitarian through streamed sermons and worship elements as we explore the good news of Universalism.

The Sunday, Sept. 15, service, entitled “Them,” by the Rev. Sean Neil-Barron, explores the how and why of resisting the constant pull toward tribalism and othering in our polarized age.

We are presenting this series as an antidote to election anxiety, and will explore the challenges of living into the Universalist belief that everyone is worthy of love, especially in a world filled with divisiveness.

The “What Our World Needs Now” series also highlights how irritation and outrage can overshadow our commitment to a broader, more inclusive love. It invites us to get curious about these challenges we all face, and together build resilience and courage to widen the circle of love.

New offering

The Pagosa UU Fellowship is also announcing a new offering, “Going Deeper with Small Group Ministry,” beginning Sunday, Sept. 22, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 pm.

This setting will offer an opportunity for deep contemplation and sharing of the themes presented during the previous Sunday worship. Stay tuned as future dates may be added as the series continues into October.

During these small group gatherings, we will continue the conversation and communion with one another as we explore with curiosity and wondering questions on the presented series “What the World Needs Now.” “Exploring Fear and Its Influence” and “Universalism and the Challenge of ‘Us vs. Them’” are just a couple of the themes that will be explored.

These gatherings will be held at the fellowship, and you are invited to bring a sack lunch; beverages and sweets will be provided. De Anna Hoyle, community engagement coordinator and trained spiritual companion, along with lay leaders from the congregation, will facilitate.

We invite all interested to join us; attendance at the previous Sunday service not a requirement.
