Update, Friday: This story has been updated to reflect the candidates will appear as unaffiliated, not write-in candidates.
Archuleta County Clerk and Recorder Kristy Archuleta announced on Tuesday, July 30, that two candidates collected enough approved signatures to successfully petition to run as unaffiliated candidates for Archuleta County commissioner for District 1.
Archuleta explained that Kenneth Bowles and Wayne Hooper both collected enough signatures.
Warren Brown is the Republican candidate for county commissioner in District 1 and currently serves as county commissioner for the district.
Archuleta states in a communication that 177 signatures were required to qualify to be on the ballot and that Hooper collected 244 accepted signatures, while Bowles collected 221.
Sixteen signatures submitted by Hooper were rejected, she states, as were 39 signatures submitted by Bowles.
