Thingamajig Theatre Company’s summer repertory season is in full swing at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts, with three acclaimed Broadway musicals playing in rotation and the company’s annual Broadway Gala arriving Tuesday, July 28.
This summer’s lineup includes the uplifting international hit “Come From Away,” Stephen Sondheim’s sophisticated and sharply funny “Company” and the beloved musical theater classic “Fiddler on the Roof.”
In “Come From Away,” audiences are transported to the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, where thousands of airline passengers were unexpectedly stranded following the events of Sept. 11, 2001. Based on true stories, the musical celebrates the compassion, humor and generosity that emerged during an extraordinary moment in history.
“Company” follows perennial bachelor Robert as he navigates friendship, marriage and the complicated question of what it means to share a life with someone. Featuring one of Sondheim’s most celebrated scores, the musical combines biting comedy, emotional honesty and unforgettable songs.
“Fiddler on the Roof” brings the village of Anatevka to the Pagosa Springs stage through the story of Tevye, a devoted father attempting to preserve his family’s traditions in a rapidly changing world. Filled with humor, heart and classic songs including “Tradition,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker” and “Sunrise, Sunset,” the musical remains one of Broadway’s most enduring works.
The summer celebration continues Tuesday, July 28, with Thingamajig Theatre Company’s annual Broadway Gala.
This year’s event features an entirely new format, offering audiences a one-night-only theatrical experience created by the artists of the summer repertory company.
Often described as the season’s “secret fourth show,” the gala brings the company together for an evening of music, entertainment and celebration while supporting professional theater in Pagosa Springs.
With three major musicals presented in rotating repertory, audiences can experience a wide range of theatrical styles — from the warmth and humanity of “Come From Away” to the sophistication of “Company” and the sweeping emotion of “Fiddler on the Roof.”
Performances and the Broadway Gala take place at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts, 2313 Eagle Drive.
