Three spots on the Archuleta School District (ASD) Board of Education (BOE) will be up for election this November.

During its regular meeting held on Tuesday, June 10, the BOE voted unanimously to approve a resolution for the district to participate in a coordinated election with the county clerks and recorders’ offices of Archuleta and Hinsdale counties.

BOE president Bob Lynch described the resolution as a “routine” matter.

“We have three board seats that are up for election,” Lynch said.

Heather Schultz, human resource director and liaison to the BOE, explained that the three director positions up for election this year include District 1 and District 5 for four-year terms, and District 4 for a two-year term.

Schultz will also serve as the district’s designated election official for the 2025 regular biennial school election, according to the resolution.

BOE member Tim Taylor currently serves as the District 1 director. Taylor was appointed to the board in September 2020 and elected to the board in November in 2021.

BOE member Butch Mackey currently serves as the District 5 director after being appointed to the board in January 2022 and then elected to the board in November 2023.

BOE member David Iverson currently serves as the District 4 director after being appointed to the board in September 2024.

ASD board members are term-limited after serving their second full term.
